Travel information for self-catering holiday cottages and bed and breakfast accommodation, West Cornwall
Travel information for Sennen, Land's End, Porthgwarra and Porthcurno (see individual property for directions):Arriving by air: Newquay is the nearest airport which is approximately 45 miles from Land's End/Porthcurno. Hiring a car is therefore recommended. Air Southwest operates from Newquay to Gatwick, London's City Airport, Bristol, Leeds/Bradford, Manchester, Newcastle, Glasgow, Cork and Dublin. Ryanair operates from Newquay to London Stansted and Alicante, BMI Baby operates from Newquay to Birmingham, Flybe operates from Newquay to the Isle of Man and Edinburgh, Lufthansa operates from Newquay to Dusseldorf and Jet 2 operates to Belfast. Skybus operates from Newquay to St. Brieuc. Details on www.newquaycornwallairport.com. Arriving by rail: First Great Western operates trains from London Paddington to Penzance (note there is an overnight sleeper service which runs Monday to Friday between Paddington and Penzance and on Sunday nights - this is not bookable online but you can find information on the website and book it by phone - prices are reasonable if you can get an apex fare), Cross Country Trains operate from the north of England and Scotland to Penzance and Wessex Trains operate from Brighton, Bath, Cardiff, Bristol and Exeter to Penzance. A taxi from the station costs approximately £18 and takes 20 minutes - the bus station is adjacent to the train station at Penzance but please be aware that in the winter the last bus out to Land's End does leave quite early - see www.travelinesw.com for more details. Car hire: This is available adjacent to Penzance station through Europcar. You could also consider hiring a Classic Car. Arriving by coach: National Express operates coaches from all over the UK to Penzance Arriving by bus: The bus station is adjacent to the railway station in Penzance. The bus stop is at the top of the lane leading to Treeve Moor House/Cottage. In Porthcurno there is a bus stop directly opposite the Cable Station pub which is adjacent to Zodiac House where Stargazey, Top Deck, Shellseekers, Beachcomber and Flats 1-5 Mercury House are situated. There is another bus stop by the Post Office which is 20 yards from The School House and a few hundred yards from Sundowner and Surfers Paradise. The bus stop in Sennen Cove is approximately 100 yards from Cobweb Cottage. If you are coming here to be peaceful, walk the coastal path and go to the local beach then it's fine to have no car. However, if you want to explore further afield I would recommend hiring a car because the bus timetables can severely restrict your movements, particularly in the evenings. To find out more about bus times in the area look on www.travelinesw.com. Arriving on foot from the coastal path at Treeve Moor House, Land's End: There is a footpath which goes directly past Treeve Moor from Sennen Cove, or from Nanjizal which can be clearly seen on the map, or you can walk up from Land's End on the A30 and I am the first house on the left OPPOSITE the turning to Porthcurno. The house is situated at SW353 251. Contact Liz Trenary, Treeve Moor House, Sennen, Penzance TR19 7AE, tel 01736 871284, info@firstandlastcottages.co.uk |
