"Cara", Cornish for "love" is a first floor 2-bedroomed apartment perched high above Porthcurno beach with breathtaking views of Porthcurno and Pedn Vounder beaches and the Logan Rock. On a clear day you can see the Lizard point in the distance. Cara has the largest balcony of all the apartments, ideal for enjoying an al fresco meal or a morning coffee whilst taking in the magnificent views. The apartment has been designed and equipped with style and flair using neutral colours - top notch kitchen fittings and appliances add to the contemporary decor. It's situated approx 500 yards from one of the most spectacular beaches in the country and about 50 yards from the entrance to the famous Minack Theatre. Land's End and the sandy, surfing beach at Sennen Cove are just 3 miles away. The valley has a local pub, two tennis courts, and a beach cafe which serves delicious cream teas and crab sandwiches. The Logan Rock Inn at Treen is a five minute drive or a 20 minute cliff walk away.

Everyone who has stayed so far has been reluctant to leave, particularly the week when there were eight basking sharks in the bay to watch, just yards from the shore!

Back for the 5th time.  Stunning coastal walk to Lands End.  Can't imagine a September without staying at Cara

This will be the 8th time we have written in Cara's visitors book and it's been one of the best weeks.  Nature has been at its best.

When you reach Penzance stay on the A30 and follow the signs for Land's End. Approximately 3 miles outside Penzance take the left turn signposted to the Minack. Drive through St. Buryan and continue (watching out for the hairpin bend!) until you see a left turn signposted to Porthcurno. Drive down into the valley and up the steep hill. The car park is on the left, on the hairpin bend - the two spaces for Cara are clearly marked as number 6. It's possible to stop outside the building itself for loading and unloading but please don't stay here long otherwise you will upset the residents who live along this road. To find Cara go to the communal door and up to the first floor.

Dogs Welcome

To try and prevent any owners from changing their minds about accepting dogs, it would be helpful if you could have a look at the following suggestions:

  • Don’t allow your dogs to damage furniture and fittings – bring a throw if you know they will go on furniture or beds
  • Clean up any dog hair
  • Don’t leave dogs in the property alone if you know they are likely to scratch the paintwork or bark incessantly
  • Pick up after your pets in the garden
  • Bring a towel to wipe your pet if they get wet or muddy
  • Ensure that dogs arrive free of fleas and freshly groomed to ensure there are no lingering smells

Cara, PorthcurnoCara is a first floor apartment with an enclosed patio.  There is a small communal garden and the coastal path and Porthcurno beach are yards away.  Please be aware there are other people above and below you who may be disturbed if your dog barks incessantly.  Suitable for one dog only.  There are beaches within walking distance which are not subject to the dog ban. Tide tables are available

Dog friendly information for the area

All the properties on this site are situated either adjacent or just minutes away from a network of paths including the main coastal path.

Some beaches ban dogs from Easter to the end of September but allow dogs on the beach in the early morning and evening. The rules in St. Ives are being changed to ban dogs all year round on most of their beaches. Beaches nearby which do accept dogs all year round are Nanjizel, Pedn Vounder, Gwenver, Priests Cove, Boat Cove, Portheras Cove, Long Rock, and Porthkidney Sands . See map for current arrangements.
