"Sundowner" is a 3-bedroomed apartment on the ground floor of an attractive, semi-detached house, situated in the picturesque valley of Porthcurno. French doors lead onto the large garden which faces west and gets the afternoon sun. It's less than a quarter of a mile from one of the most spectacular beaches in the country as shown here. The famous Minack Theatre is half a mile away. Land's End and the sandy, surfing beach of Sennen Cove are just 3 miles away. Porthcurno beach cafe, and the Cable Station Inn are within walking distance.  This property is below Surfers Paradise and just across from Crest of the Wave so if you wish to be near friends or family, you would be close together.  Please note the garden is not dog-proof.

Directions

When you reach Penzance stay on the A30 and follow the signs for Land's End. Approximately 3 miles outside Penzance take the left turn signposted to the Minack. Drive through St. Buryan and continue (watching out for the hairpin bend!) until you see a left turn signposted to Porthcurno. Drive down into the valley and past the village shop/post office. Just after this you will see 6 large semi detached houses on the lefthandside. "Sundowner" is the last one - turn left into the driveway just before the white block of flats. The parking space is right at the back, adjacent to the property - it looks as though the parking space belongs to the block of flats but it is clearly marked as belonging to "Sundowner". There is a second parking space in front of the front door. The entrance to no.12 is the blue door right by the parking space - there is no need to go through the blue gate - this leads to the back entrance.

Dogs Welcome

In the last year I have had quite a few complaints from owners about the way properties have been left when dogs have been there. So, to try and prevent any owners from changing their minds about accepting dogs, it would be helpful if you could have a look at the following suggestions:

  • Don’t allow your dogs to damage furniture and fittings – bring a throw if you know they will go on furniture or beds
  • Clean up any dog hair
  • Don’t leave dogs in the property alone if you know they are likely to scratch the paintwork or bark incessantly
  • Pick up after your pets in the garden
  • Bring a towel to wipe your pet if they get wet or muddy
  • Ensure that dogs arrive free of fleas and freshly groomed to ensure there are no lingering smells

Sundowner, PorthcurnoSundowner is a ground floor flat with a garden surrounded by escallonia hedging – it is possible for dogs to get through so dogs will require supervision and some may need to be on a lead if they are likely to run off.  Suitable for a maximum of two dogs unless they are very small.  Please be aware there are other people above you who may be disturbed by incessant barking.  Porthcurno beach is about ten minutes walk.  There are beaches within walking distance which are not subject to the dog ban. Tide tables are available

Dog friendly information for the area

All the properties on this site are situated either adjacent or just minutes away from a network of paths including the main coastal path.

Some beaches ban dogs from Easter to the end of September but allow dogs on the beach in the early morning and evening. The rules in St. Ives are being changed to ban dogs all year round on most of their beaches. Beaches nearby which do accept dogs all year round are Nanjizel, Pedn Vounder, Gwenver, Priests Cove, Boat Cove, Portheras Cove, Long Rock, and Porthkidney Sands .
